Otin circa 1989

O.K., so I said that I had a bunch of old movies that my Mother took in the late 80's, or early 90's. Why anyone would be interested in this is way beyond me, but I must listen to my people! This is around Christmas, I think 89 or so, I am in the black shirt, my SIL is on the floor, next to me, and my brother is the last guy on the couch. The shit that I had to go through to get this from VHS to here was really eye opening to how much I really do not know. So for you nut cases that want to see this(LOL), here it is.....

video

Was it that bad? Like the stonewash jeans? At least I did not have a mullet!!!

You looked great!! Your mom's videos are about as interesting as mine. :-) I agree it is a bitch to change the VHS tapes to DVDs. Just ridiculous. And...

I figure when we get the our nested in with our DVDs. Something else will come along!! Lets all agree now not to buy the damn blue ray!! or anything else that they come out with to "upgrade" our technology.

The jeans!!!

Find them & re-sell to a vintage shop - I think these are actually coming back for fall'09.

I am NOT joking ;-)

Looking good Mr 80's ; -) I can't hear if the video has sound cause of the music on your blog.

I, too, am wondering what you guys are writing.

Otin, you were adorable! Did I get you in the mood with my 80's road trip flash back?
BTW, it's Tina, the SIL, with the mullet! LOL!

otin, not bad, quality-wise. Some of the junk on youtube is just that...junk. This came out pretty good. I've got the VHS-to-DVD recorder but nothing to get it onto my hard-drive...yet. Just scanning and editing old photos, is bad enough!

Love the stonewash jeans and I don't know, your hair looks pretty darn mulletish to me! Wings, even! Are you guys playing that game where you have to write words that begin with the same letter? What's it called?

Beth said...

Didn't we all have stonewashed jeans back then? You look adorable!

And now I feel better about the hours of video of my first son just laying in his crib kicking his legs and drooling. :) We mothers are just fascinated with our children.

No mullet here, but did you ever have one?

And what were you playing????

I just love getting a glimpse into people's FAMILIES. Big big word for me. This was great. Glad you took the time and effort to get it into your blog.

I admit, I had the blue stonewash jeans (I think we're both 43 so it makes sense).

Where is your pucca shell necklace? I know a lot of NY/NJ sported them...

:O Que guapo! How handsome! =)

Did you not like the 80's fashion? LOL!

otin said...

I think that Sarah got it! It was scattegories!

That could have been one of our family videos...........well, except you were there. What a cutie you were.

Hey, Otin, now that you've figured out the whole vhs to computer thing, wanna do mine. I have endless hours of my mother's amazing video skills. LOL You'll get seasick watching but so worth it when my sister moons the camera.

Hi baby, sorry I'm late. I had to stop at Beth's while reading the comments. You know me and flowers (She's a hoot! So's everybody else actually, but I only have 24 hours in my day.).

As an artist I have A LOT to say because I'm very visual!!!

1) You're an absolute cutie pie, however...

2) I'm almost blinded by the mullet you're denying. Now honey, just close your eyes and picture this...long hair from front to back (possibly layered) flowing over your shoulders and often pulled back in a pony tail. Now that's hot! You missed it by about 6 inches on either side!!! Oh, and you probably missed getting laid about a gazillion times. WHAT? This isn't the family channel, is it? Yes, it's true, I love long hair on guys, but I have a wee bit of a problem when it only takes up 1/3 of a guys freakin' head.

3) Why is your brother covering his feet with a blue pillow? Excuse me, a country blue pillow? Which matches the carpet. Your mother obviously has designer qualities and should audition for The Next Design Star on HGTV, but that's another story.

4) This isn't a trick question. Do all homes have a birch log with red candles and some greenery at Christmas? Your 3 candle arrangement impressed the hell out of me. See, we didn't have that. We just had one candle. Why? Probably because there were no big thinkers in our family.

5) ALERT. ALERT. ALERT. Child and DIL abuse. Dad's a smoker and I don't see a single window open. I may have to report this. How do your lungs feel? If they hurt, I know a good lawyer.

Okay, I'll stop. This video was too much fun. Thanks for going through all the effort to share it with us. Oh, and I think the music is quite appropriate. Now I want more. Please. This will be our little game: You post. I critique.

XO ;)

Oh, yes, I see I was mistaken. It's only a shadow around your head in the SHAPE of a mullet. Silly me.

♥ Braja said...

All that and we don't get to laugh at your mullet???? Ripped off....

Chris@Maugeritaville said...

Oh yeah, the late 80's and the stonewashed jeans. I had several pair myself.

I'd bed to differ, my friend! That 'do is lookin' pretty mullet-y to me. Ha! Thanks for loading the vid!

You cracked me up. Thanks for the comment over there. I left you one, well, over there. Honey, this is funny. I hope to see more because I LMAO. I really did. Not at you, just at your generation!!! Thank God I grew up in the 70's!!!
