Good choice at the end. I like a happy ending. Although the story shows how humans lack the low level intelligence it actually takes to work in unity.

Ah Otin, beneath it all there is a message of unity and goodwill, taking care of the planet.

Happy Holidays right back at you ; -)

Dear Mr. Fantasy is playing on your player. It's been a favorite of mine since forever.

Great story good lesson to learn

Interesting premise, Otin. Rather like a Twilight Zone. I had to smile, though... because aliens always seem to have a "Z" or "K" in their names. It's TRADITION!

I knew once they split up one group was doomed! I love how you got me hooked reading it to the end and then threw in a lesson that is SO true.

Why can't we all just get along?

Great story Otin, with a great underlying lesson. How true it is!

Otin, that was a perfect storyline for this time of the year. The message is so simple, and so easy to follow, yet we intelligent beings never seem capable of grasping the concept. Sometimes we are too smart for our own good.

P.S. Thanks for the spotlight.

I like to alien theme, to go with your cool aliens at the top of the blog. It is a great short story and social comment on our time...as is the case with all classic short stories.

Great story, and was that you playing the harmonica?

Cool story, Otin, I agree it is very Twilight Zone-ish. So someone would have had to swallow their pride and follow the other two at the fork in the path? But it wouldn't have mattered who followed whom, as long as they all stayed together? Damn them!!!

Without unity, even simple tasks fail. Great story Otin.

Gary and Candie? Hmmmm I know someone who might have something to say about that! Great yarn. Have you seen a movie called The Cube . . you might like it. Similar but not the same.

Excellent story. . . interesting how people continue to choose oposition over unity, and like minded-ness. This gives me a lot to chew on. Thanks.

Otin everything ends as it should. Good capture though, once the story got rolling I couldn't stop.

Bravo! I love happy endings. And I think I'll be more cooperative from now on. We humans are a difficult species.

That is sad, will people ever learn to work together in unity without conflict? Probably never. xD

Great story Otin! Happy Sunday!

I really enjoyed the story and think it has a great message. I will be completely honest and tell you that I was bothered that Hu Ling was from the "Orient". Everyone else was from somewhere specific, "Philly", "Indiana", "Germany", or "France". The Orient is very large and I wondered why that choice was made. Obviously, you can tell I'm very PC. Other than that, I really enjoyed the story, momentum, and ending.

This is probably a little too advanced for my kids but it is a lesson they need to learn. I guess we all do.
