QUESTIONS? (thanks Sam)

These are a few of the things that go through my head:

1. Why is the superbowl on Sunday? wouldn't it be nice to party on Saturday night instead?

2. Why don't we switch Thanksgiving to Friday, some people are off on thursday, then go back to work Friday, and are off on Sat and Sun.?

3. If the universe is everything, and God created the universe, then where was God before the universe existed?

4. How can a 6 lane interstate come to a complete stop, without there even being an accident?

5. How can you make a plant illegal?

6. Why must the person in front of me at an express lane checkout always need to root around their wallet for ten minutes looking for exact change?

7. Why is it that I use almost nothing that I learned in High School?

8. Why do people have to idolize their parents, even if they were completely fucked up?

9. Why do we watch movies more than one time?

10. Why do we over use the word genius? For example: "Kurt Cobain was a genius"- no, albert Einstein was a genius, Kurt Cobain wrote words and put them to music and then shot himself!

11. Why do most people stare at the ocean and find it scenic?

12. Why can't we find Bin Laden?

13. Why do people care what celebrities do?

14. Why don't they make good movies anymore?

15 Why am I writing a blog that only three people read LMAO?

Global Warming?

I am not a scientist, nor do I pretend to be. Is global warming happening? It could be. Is it man made? I don't know. Everyone seems to have an opinion, but does anyone, aside from actual scientists that study the data, really know what they are talking about? My father calls me every time the temperature is below normal just to say that global warming is a myth. He does not call me on hot days, though. I say, "Dad what about the drowning polar bears"? He says that it may just be the way nature intended polar bears to become extinct. Well, here is what I think: I think that all of the pollutants that we pump into the air has to have some negative effect. To say otherwise would be like saying that cigarettes are o.k in moderation. I don't know if it is causing global warming, I just know it must cause something. It seems that everyone must take such a hard line. Either they think that Ohio is one year away from being ocean front property, or they think that global warming is a democratic talking point, just used to smear republicans. At least the left wing is keeping an eye on things. The God pushing, abortion is murder, right wing, doesn't seem to care enough to even admit it could be possible!

The Loner

He sat in his empty room
Staring at four walls
Sreaming shouts of loneliness
No answer to his calls

Yet, this loner's isolation
to which there seemed no end
Could have all been swept away
If he had only found a friend

A friend would be a person
That would rid him of his strife
and give him peace and happiness
A longing love of life

But the loner could not plant the seed
to make a friendship grow
Instead he pondered weary thoughts
Of misery and woe

Then one long and lonely day
This man sat up in bed
and picking up a loaded gun
He held it to his head

A playmate from my youth
The man that I now mourn
memories of my childhood
are now forever torn

Life is a strange adventure
The good times and the bad
Some days are filled with happiness
Today I'll just feel sad

Great albums part 3

Music was interesting in the 70's, there was rock and pop and punk and disco, amongst other forms of music. The first three albums that I chose for my list were all 70's albums as is the one I am going to choose now. I am not a 70's fanatic, I was actually more of an 80's guy when it came to music.(meaning that I was a teenager in the 80's). The album that I chose for this installment is "The Cars", by, of course, The Cars. The Cars later got lumped into that whole 80's MTV scene, which was unfortunate. A little bit of electronics and alot of cool rock songs is what their first album was all about. There is not an unrecognizable song on the album, including: "Just what I needed", "Let the good times roll", "You're all I've got tonight", and others. The Cars were one of those bands that the metal heads said was gay, but when you grow up and appreciate it for it's musical value, it holds up as one of the best.

Is there life out there?

Is there life out there? Of course there is! you would have to be an idiot to think that we are the only life in the universe. I am not saying that there are big headed beings that fly around in saucers and fire ray guns, just that it is highly unlikely that we are the only life in the entire universe. All you need is a little water and a suitable temperature and something will grow, even if its some one celled life form. Now I know what you are thinking, if you are so sure that life exists elsewhere then why is there absolutely no God. I am not saying that there could be no supreme force, just that there is no man in the sky. If some mineral or fungus from another world ended up on Earth and spawned life on this planet, then technically that could be a creator, if some alien species flew a spacecraft to this planet and started life, then they would be Gods of some sort. Now, I personally don't believe that we were visited or that life here was extraterrestial, I simply believe that if you search the entire universe you will find something living.

Religion

Religion is the cause of most of the worlds turmoil. Throughout history wars have mostly been based on religious ideals. The Egyptians had their Gods and the Greeks and Romans and Indians and every other culture had some sort of deity or deities. As time moved forward these religions became myths. You can go to any book store and buy a book of Greek Mythology. In two thousand years people will be going into book stores and buying the complete collection of Christian Mythology. Why must people be so weak that they need to create a guiding force? Why can't we just accept the fact that we are mammals, with the same basic instincts as other mammals.? Do dogs lie around and think about the big pooch that lives in the kingdom in the sky? People are taught to believe in Santa Claus at a young age and are told this lie until they get old enough to figure out the truth. Also at a young age they are told of this magical man that lives in the sky, yet most people never doubt this story. People, open up your minds, think for yourselves, and don't let people sell you a fairytale.

More of the greatest albums

Well, my previous articles are untitled because I am still learning how to use this thing. This is the second post on this subject. you need to read the previous post to understand this one. My rock album classic for today is Aqualung by Jethro Tull. Aside from its three main classic songs, "Aqualung", "Cross eyed Mary", and "Locomotive Breath", the album makes a religious statement. It basically proclaims that man created God in man's own image. This is a theory near and dear to me because I totally agree with it. What is interesting about the theme is that few people ever pick up on it, I have never heard anyone complain about the albums point of view. Religion is a topic for future rantings, right now it's strictly music!

Greatest albums

Over the next few blogs I am going to list what I think are the greatest rock records of all time. These are not rated in order of which one is best, they are merely being singled out as great albums. I recently watched VH1's 100 greatest hard rock songs. It was a joke! There were so many great songs left out and so many weak songs included. This blog will not contain Beatles or Stones albums because it is already known about their greatness. The first album that is on my list is Queen's "A Night At The Opera". Queen is often overlooked by the rock community because of their experimentation with new wave and disco type songs and Freddie Mercury's flaming personality, yet , in their hey day, there were few bands that rocked so hard and were produced so well. A Night AT The Opera is exactly what the tiltle implies, it is operatic hard rock with a touch of tenderness such as "love of my life" or "my best friend", but all in all there are at least 5 hard rockin, classics including "Bohemian Rhapsody.
Next is Paranoid by Black Sabbath. Ozzy Osbourne has the most distinctive voice in hard rock. Sabbaths first 5 albums were all classic and people could argue that any of them are equally classic, however, in my opinion, the fact that "Iron Man" and "Paranoid" are both on this one album, makes it hard to argue against this being the template for modern heavy metal.

There is more to come......What is your opinion?

Double Standards

There is a double standard in the political world. I am not republican nor am I a democrat. I tend to be more of a free thinking guy. I favor lower taxes and less government control of our daily lives, I hated the Iraq war form the start, yet I thought the original invasion of Afghanistan was the proper response to Bin Laden. But, sometimes I can see both sides points. I was arguing with my dad and I referred to Bush as a "dummy". My dad went crazy, said that I had to respect the office of the president, and that I should be ashamed for talking about our leader like that! This is the same man that spent eight years referring to Clinton as "Slick Willy." I hate the fuckin' double standard. Sean Hannity will talk all day about some democrat that hired an illegal alien to clean his house, yet a republican gets mixed up in a scandal and it is not harped on. Republicans don't want anyone preaching against God, and then they turn around and preach about God(or Reagan). Do you notice this also?

Why must everything be a left or right issue? You cannot bring up the subject of global warming without some asshole trying to say that scientists are working for the democrats. I was talking about changes in our atmosphere, not electing someone. The same can be said about the abortion issue. To me there is no issue, not a political one anyway. What difference does it make what the president thinks of aborting one tiny fetus when he can, in one signature, abort an entire nation. I think I'll keep this short just to see if anyone is listening.
