Happy New Year Late Afternoon Thursday Happy Hour Friday

In Emails with RxBambi, a great friend of mine, we decided to co host a Friday post called "Happy hour Friday". Friday is the end of the work week, and a doorway to free time and hopefully fun. Just list some things that make you happy, and Have a fun weekend! BE SURE TO VISIT RX BAMBI :)

Regardless of anything else that follows on this post, the little girl from Beth's post received the gift that I sent her and that makes my day! No matter what else I write, I am extremely happy!!!

Awards Awards Awards!! I have been honored to receive awards from a lot of you, the problem is, although I am very obsessive about blogging, I tend to be a slacker in the award department. As you can see on the side bar, I used to keep up with them, but it just kind of went by the wayside.
I have decided to create my own award and award it to all of the people who have given me awards and not seen a response from me. You can take it if you want or you can just play by it's rules. I give you the..............

OTIN IS A SLACKER AWARD

All that you have to do to accept this award is admit that I am a slacker in your comments, provided that you gave me an award and I did not mention it!

As far as blogging goes, I have been floating the Q word around in my head a little bit. I am very obsessive about things and I always want to give everything 100% when I do it. Lately, I have felt like this.......
(I know, I have used this pic before, but I like it!)
It is not that I do not still love blogging, I really enjoy it, but I also cannot work 45 hours a week and blog 40 hours a week! LOL!

Although I read everyone's blogs, my reading and my commenting has become quick fire. Way back when, I was kind of noticed for the comments that I would leave, not what I posted. What I posted used to suck, in my opinion. I am going to get back to that and what that means is that people who usually see me every day, will probably not see me every day anymore. I am not going to give up blogging because I really do enjoy it. I just want to get back to what made it fun for me.

I am happy that you read my last story and realized that it was not a porn piece!

I wrote a New Years poem on my other blog. I would have brought it over, but it would not classify as happy, at least, I don't think!

I hate failure, so I have made some realistic New Years Resolutions:

I will not gain 50 lbs!

I will not live in total financial comfort!

I will not try out for American Idol!

I will not be attracted to another man!

I will not bungee jump off a bridge!

I will, however, still be blogging in 2011!

Happy New Year Everyone!!!!
Bonne année
Feliz Año Nuevo!
PROSIT NEUJAR.
С Новым годом!

BRIGHT HORIZONS (a third Otin/Miller Tale)

Okay, here we have the third installment of our Otin/Miller stories. It was my turn to start the story and Brian Miller's turn to finish it. I have no idea what he wrote, so this makes it fun for me, also! I will give you his link at the bottom of the page!

Charlie Turner stared at his front lawn in disbelief. He never imagined that the maple trees, which adorned his property, could hold so many leaves. He had been raking all day, and there was still quite a bit of yard that he had not touched.

He and his wife, Liz, had lived in the quiet little neighborhood of Brookhaven for the past twenty eight years. They were there long enough to raise two children to adulthood and establish some pretty deep roots. They both loved their setting in central Virginia, with the skyline of the Blue Ridge Mountains to the east. It was such a delight on a summer’s morning to sit on the front porch swing and watch the sun rise above the majestic mountain tops. Charlie knew that they would one day retire and eventually head south, but for now, at age fifty, he was happy right where he was.

Tom, the couple’s eldest son, lived in Washington DC, which was about three hours on the other side of the mountain range. He and Liz made the drive about once a month to visit him. They loved taking the scenic route across Skyline drive. When they wanted to make better time, Charlie would take the interstates. It shortened the trip by over an hour.

Billy, their younger son, was nineteen and still lived at home. Billy had offered to assist his dad earlier that day, but Charlie had turned him down. Charlie enjoyed yard work, he found it very therapeutic. It was something that he needed after his daily eight to fours at a local tire factory.

He stopped raking again and looked at his watch. It was four O’clock and the sun was starting to sink low in the west. The sky to the east was already approaching dusk, and the chill of the night air was beginning to settle over the region. Charlie knew that he would never finish his task before dark and decided that he would need Billy’s help, after all. He put down the rake and started toward the house. That is when he heard a high pitched hum, coming from over head. He looked up, thinking that it did not sound like any airplane that he had ever heard. What he saw made his knees buckle.

It was an oblong object, similar in shape to a football, only not as wide in the middle. It was smooth, with no visible seams or lighting. It was moving way too slow to be a plane, and was definitely not a blimp or balloon of any sort. At the low elevation at which the object was flying, Charlie could only determine that it was rather large.

All up and down the street, people flocked from their houses. There were oohs and ahhhs, and more than a few screams. The humming got louder and then the object seemed to accelerate, just clearing the mountain tops. Charlie noted that it seemed to be heading in the general direction of the nation’s capital. It disappeared into the dark horizon, leaving the stunned neighbors to huddle and discuss what they had just witnessed.

What happened next was totally unbelievable. The eastern horizon, which a few minutes earlier had been turning to night, was now illuminated brighter than the startled residents of Brookhaven had ever seen. Charlie felt a slight temperature change occur almost immediately. The crisp cool seemed to have diminished and the air appeared to be a few degrees warmer. The light lasted about thirty seconds and then it was gone, but the temperature was still on the rise.

With Billy and Liz now at his side, they all looked off to the east. Charlie didn’t know what had happened, but he knew that it did not look good. He was worried about the country and about Washington DC, but mostly he was worried about his son, Tom. He ran to get his phone…..

If you want to know what happens, go see Brian! I know that I am curious.

Happy Hour Friday Merry Christmas Edition

In Emails with RxBambi, a great friend of mine, we decided to co host a Friday post called "Happy hour Friday". Friday is the end of the work week, and a doorway to free time and hopefully fun. Just list some things that make you happy, and Have a fun weekend! BE SURE TO VISIT RX BAMBI :)

MERRY CHRISTMAS

TURN THE MUSIC PLAYER OFF and listen to this song. Listen to the words.

I am happy that all of you supported Beth in her attempt to give a little girl her wish in her final days! It truly was a Christmas gift. For those of you who missed it, it is not something that had to be done before Christmas. Head over and read the post!

I am happy to know all of you. Some of you I know more than others, but I learn more about all of you each and every day!

I am Happy to have helped Stacy with the Santa Claus Blog.
I am happy to have learned a lot this year, not only about others, but also about me and what I could do if I just applied myself.

I am happy that I have some baking skills! I make a hell of a cookie!

I am happy that people remember that there are so many Americans who will spend Christmas with a rifle in their hand, so that you can spend yours with a cup of coffee and a pile of discarded wrapping paper!

Have a truly Merry Christmas, my friends!

Where are they now?

It is coming up on my first year of blogging and I was looking back through the beginning of my site and I realized how long that it took me to find my groove. I went through my first 3 months of posts and I found every person who commented on my site from Jan, Feb, and March. I decided that I would do a little, where are they now and maybe even reconnect with a few that are still around!
Blogger Ruth
Ruth was someone who only commented a few times, and I followed her blog called "Huffing". She still has 2 blogs, but I have not been to them in almost a year. I need to visit.
Blogger FJ Sam
Sam was my first reader, commenter, and was the first blog that I read, aside from JMJ's, (but that is coming up) She has not posted in ages, but I still look out for her.
Delete
Blogger Graciebird
Harley is a young woman, college age, who is really into classic movies. She is a very nice girl and one of the first 3 people to read my blog. She still blogs and her blog is called "Dreaming in Black and White" She has another blog, also.
Sunisha
She left me two comments and then I never heard from her again. I checked her sites out and her blogs have been inactive since September.

Jersey McJones DeleteMy friend since high school. The reason that I started a blog. He was very political and deleted his blog right after I started mine. I have no idea where he went, he has no blog and does not answer his phone.

David Is also one of the first readers of my blog. He writes a semi political history blog. He puts a lot of work into his writing, usually posting more than once a day. He has 3 blogs, but Freedom Writing is his main site. It is still going strong.
Blogger
Loring Wirbel
Loring is another blogger who is actually a follower even though I have not left a comment on his site in over 6 months. I still follow him, also. I stop by at times, and usually do not comment. He is still an active blogger.

Cherlyn
Cherlyn is a blogger that I came across on a "Days of our Lives" related website, believe it or not. She went a long time without posting, but threw one up the other day. She has 2 blogs.
Blogger JP JP had one of those blogs that you could tell was going to be a funny site, but then he just stopped posting. I think that he had internet service problems.
*Just Jen*
I hate even writing this one. My all time favorite blog! Jen just went through some stuff and had to stop posting. I still hope that she comes back.
Blogger
Annie- I never knew her. I think that I left one comment on her site and she left one on mine. I do not think that she blogs anymore.
Blogger

East Coast Wahine
Still an active blogger, she came over when I started doing Aloha Fridays. I just recently left a comment on her site.

janetfaye Another blogger who came over for Aloha Friday. She is from NJ, which is a good quality lol. She still is an active blogger, but I do not follow and she does not follow me.
Blogger

Jaime One of my bestest buddies and long time friend. I met her through *Just Jen*'s blog. She was also a regular in the first few months. She is still blogging, thankfully!
Blogger

C Midwestern Momma With a New York Heart! Her blog will sometimes make you laugh, and sometimes rip your heart out. I do not visit her as often as I should. She is still blogging regularly.
Blogger

lisa One of the funniest people that I know. She does not think so, but she is. She can make me laugh in fewer words than anyone else. Now if she would just get back on a regular posting schedule!
Pwn StarDelete Not calling herself that these days. She is now Sweet Britches. Her picture and linked name will not take you anywhere, you need to click here to go see her. She still posts!
Wicked Pissa Tees I am not sure who this was, if it was one person or a group of people who ran the blog. The blog is still up. They had some funny t shirts, but have not posted in a long time!
Mighty M This one blew me away! She is now a good friend and follower, who posts the cutest pictures. At this point, she probably did not even remember coming to my blog. It was an Aloha Friday. I never knew that Mighty M was one of my early readers:) Her blog is definitely still active!
Blogger
Mary
I never really knew her as a blogger. I just checked her sight and found that a lot of her followers were friends of mine, and her blog looked fun, but she has not posted since June.
Blogger

Wanderlust No Longer calls herself that. Now she is Jersey Girl. I just went to her site this morning and left a comment. She does not post as much as she used to, but is still blogging!

My expressions LIVE Ric is a fireman, and a loving family man, and a huge pervert! His blog is still posting! I visit at least once a week!
Blogger

.: Sarah Bean I am not familiar with her at all. I just checked her site and she has not posted since mid November. She only left one comment.

sues2u2 was a blogger that would show up on Aloha Friday. I am not sure about her status? 2 of her blogs are private, and one has no new posts since May.
Blogger

NateAndJakesMom Another Aloha Friday commenter. She has a big giveaway blog with over 1000 followers. I do not read her blog.
Blogger

Kailani The originator of Aloha Friday. She commented twice on my site in the first three months. I know that she is still up and running!!

Hit 40 Don't ask me? I have no idea? My partner in crime for the better part of 7 months. I have no idea what her future plans hold. I hope that she comes back, but it seems like blogging is a double edged sword. It can suck you in, but when it gets to be a job, it can be easy to lose interest.
Blogger

Megan Smith One of the first three people on my blog. She had a political blog and just stopped posting not long into my blogging experience. She was the second blog that I followed.

Well, that is it! If you take away the people who came by for Aloha Fridays, my readers were very few and far between during my first three months.

This post is a tribute to all of these people!
