A lone man and his minivan

This is my driveway. No one is at my house to visit, I live alone. Kinda crazy, isn't it!

I am sure that you will notice the minivan in my little collection....

Why did I buy a minivan, you ask? Well, at the time, it was my best financial move to buy something with enough towing capacity to pull the boat....I don't drive the van very often, but when I do I will sometimes get interesting comments.

At a starbucks, I drove up to the drive through with Soundgarden playing on the radio. The girl at the window, who may have been about 20, said...

"Wow, you listen to my Dad's music! I would never have expected to hear that coming from your van!"

Yes, I felt old and out of touch.

Then the other day, once again getting coffee, another girl wished me a happy Father's Day. Umm, I think you need a kid before you can get that honor. LOL

I guess people really stereotype a middle aged guy driving a minivan!

Maybe I should buy a New car!Or not.........

As long as it gets you from Point A to Point B, it's good.
And if it tows a boat,
IT'S GREAT!
=-)

only a real man can drive a minivan. I knew you were a real man all the time!

People just assume you are a parent when you get to a certain age. Me I have no kids but got told "Happy Mothers Day" by many a retail worker.
Think the Challenger would look great but maybe in Black or Red LOL

time for an upgrade!

You crack me up!!

A Challenger will definitely be a great addition to your collection. YUMMM!

why don't you just pimp the minivan????

Funny, I see you as a truck kinda guy. You should throw a booster seat back there and really confuse people...LOL

Have a good week.

btw....you can get that software that will recognize your voice and type for you but I don't know how it'll work with the Joisey accent!! LOL.

A single guy can drive whatever he wants. Where's the Cavalier?

You changed the look over here. I like it. If you have Windows Vista, here's a link for the speech recognition stuff.

Isn't that another van in the shot? You have two vans?

time for a trade in for a muscle car!

Ha! With men, it's always about the boat or the balls, isn't it?

So far I have been lucky enough to avoid the van trap....now to keep my girls out of them. ;)

Haha . . I'd love a Minivan but sadly I drive a Nana car and I'm not a Nana so don't you worry about a thing!

Let's see, since kids I have driven:
a jeep
a conversion van
a "jimmy"
a station wagon
and my current Rav4.

Nope, no minivan.

My favorite was the jeep, by the way. It was HOT!

Love the boat, btw...

What about the comments you get when you are towing the boat. I'll bet they are more than better.

You've got so many kinds of transport vehicle in your driveway.

Nothing wrong with the mini van. It can pull the boat and that is your relaxation technique. Good for you. Fishing is a great pastime, I think. Your house looks nice, a home.

Too funny! Yes, people definitely assume mini + van = kids.

You have a lot of vehicles!

Ehh, mini vans will always be stereotyped that way. It's not the end of the world though. You can always plan road trips with a group!

Although I loved my mini van when I drove it, I DID say that it spelled "drudgery" on the side of it!

ReformingGeek said...

It's better than "How are the grandkids?"

No, nobody has said that to me yet but one of these it will probably happen.

Pull the boat with a truck. Get rid of the van. ;-)

Do you have the big onion bag full of soccer balls in the back?

Can I borrow just ONE of your vehicles lol it's hot and a long walk into town :)

lol!!!! the minivan gives you character..lol

Ha! I like Brian's suggestion. That would make for interesting comments.

I drive an SUV that for years had a kid's carseat in the back seat-- I don't have any kids either and was too old to be a "soccer mom". Now I pull up in the school car pool lane and get the "grandma" looks from the 30-something moms. Grrrrr.

I vote we both get new cars ;-)

Mini van or not get the new one!! Not sure it'll help you with the boat but who cares when you'll look super cool (ish!!)

A Yankee fan in a mini-van - two of the world's greatest evils.

Though you do get bonus points for rocking out to Soundgarden.

Drive your ride with pride, Otin!

I'm finally out of the minivan years but I do miss it now and then, esp when I'm trucking a bunch of kids around or when we go on vacation. I will have something small, cute and fast someday!
