The Life I Chose

Aching muscles and frozen toes,
I can't complain, it's the life I chose.

Sometimes witty, often a fool,
I picked hard knocks to be my school.

To old to change, that's probably true,
bills to pay, some over due.

If I could, I would post-haste,
A mind's a terrible thing to waste.

A man can dream, what's the harm,
at least until the clock's alarm.

Get up early, work in the mud,
Come home at night full of crud.

Eyes are heavy, no time to write,
Why must life be such a fight?

I shouldn't complain, that is true,
I have a job that gets me through.

But it's still tough, as everyone knows.
To have regrets of the lives we chose.

I hear ya. I'd love to write, blog, and make a living from home.

Maybe, someday, we will get there. Small steps.

Read The Compound Effect. It gave me renewed hope that with a little bit of change each day, I might still alter the course of my life.

We all have things in our lives we regret. Just have to keep plugging along until we figure out how to change things.....

Regret can be a teacher and not a downer. Trite to say that there are so many people worse off. I am glad for you for so many things. The kind of work you do is hard, rough, tiring. You can proud you do the best you can do and you earn the money you are paid to do the job. That alone is a success story.

Keep writing the poetry, Otin. Touching lines - words I take to heart as a 20-something.

I know this goes much deeper than the words express.

Just persevere, Otin, and I'm sure you'll get there. Some things have to be endured for our own good in the end. God bless you, my friend.

I notice every year the aches and pains become a little more and in a new spot.

Great poem - hope all is well.
