Am I an idiot? possibly

The writing business is going to kill me!  I've had comments on one of my novels ranging anywhere from "That was mind blowing" to "It lost its intensity."

For two years I've been writing and submitting, hoping to land a book deal.  So what do I do when I get two E publishing offers in the period of two days?   I turn them both down.

To quote the shark fisherman, Quint, from the movie Jaws, which was said in reference to the strange behavior of the Great White Shark that he was hunting : "I don't know Chief, he's very smart  or very dumb."

Hopefully in my case, it works out better for me than it did for Quint or the shark. lol

You have to do what feels right for you. If it didn't feel right, the it wasn't and there is something better on the horizon!

You've got to follow your dreams. Your heart will lead you in the right direction.

That poor Quint (and now I must watch Jaws, it was forever since I last saw it...).

Always follow your instinct, I've denied mine so many times and ended up losing things for not listening to it.

And yes, you will end up better than Quint.

You'll find the right deal and it will feel ever so right that you will know beyond a shadow of a doubt... you are NO idiot.

hah hah ha ha ha ha Dude just wait a week...the one who was complimentary will have sauerkraut for lunch and that day he'll hate it and the one who was less than complimentary will have a Canoli for desert and will love. It's the editors that are fickle not the writer.

You're very smart. Trust me! It's going to happen and when that day comes you'll be relieved that you made the right decision!

Writing my manuscript went a LOT easier than writing my query. I've shot myself in the foot with every agent I've submitted it to. Quirkyloon read the manuscript and LOVES it, but NO ONE can make sense of my query.

How did YOU do it?

I loved that movie!

Taking on pass on two offers is tough but I'm guessing you did the right thing. Your time will come.

Well, ultimately, you have to do what feels right for you. If you have a certain dream, don't settle for less or give up prematurely. I'm a testament to diligence paying off sp I suggest sticking to your dream in it's entirety.

Thanks for dropping by and following. I gotcha right back!

Whilst I know it must have been a tough decision, I still think we should take a moment to go 'Hell YEAH - I just got me 2 offers!!'.
We can think about the next step once you have had this little celebration jig. haha!

I read where Harry Potter got rejected a crapload of times before Scholastic took it. Keep at it my friend and best of luck to you.

You have to do what feels right. I've lived a good life by going with my "gut" when having to make important decisions. Your gut can serve you well, sir.

Have a great weekend!

Gutsy move, and good luck. I think it's always better to take the risk and do it on your own terms.
